On the Mend

It is hard to believe that it is Tuesday evening already.  The days and nights have all become jumbled together.

We took Little Bear back to the veterinary office this morning. Even wearing a cone, she somehow chewed off one or two sutures.  We've been watching her almost 24/7.  Last night, I went to the restroom for just a few minutes and when I came out, I caught her working on her sutures.  Her incision looked a little red.  We put a bandage on it as best we could (she was not happy!).  I didn't sleep well.  I kept waking up and looking at her to make sure her bandage was still on.

The veterinarian looked at her and said that even though she had worked out a few sutures, her incision was closed and healing well.  We left with a longer cone and hopes that this would deter her curiosity.  I was so relieved that her wound is healing.

My house is a mess.  We've had to block all the sofas, beds, comfy chairs with dining room chairs so she won't jump up on them.  She isn't suppose to jump or run.  She isn't too happy about things being blocked off.  She loves to hop up on the couch to snuggle next to me.  I have been lifting her carefully to sit on my lap or just sitting on the floor and snuggling with her.

Even though the house is a disaster and we are all tired, I am thankful that Little Bear is on the mend. I can't ask for anything more than that! ♥

  2. I am glad to hear she is healing well, oh I understand changing up your whole house and ways of doing things for our little furbabies, hopefully the new cone works and she can be at peace with it.

    1. Connie, thank you. This new cone has worked so far. I do have to take it off for her to eat or drink and then put it on again.

  4. When animals are sick, its just like having kids, everything slides because the most important thing is getting them well. It is exhausting though! I feel for you! Our little Riley is keeping me so busy with potty breaks every 30 minutes to an hour. In this cold, it is tiring, as we have to bundle up each time. However, her cuteness makes it worth it all. Prayers for your sweet Little Bear!

We all have our “good old days” tucked away inside our hearts, and we return to them in dreams like cats to favorite armchairs. ~ B. Carter
