Wedding Registries

A dear friend of mine's son is getting married next month.  The wedding is in California and unfortunately, we won't be able to attend.

I was happy to see that the couple had a wedding registry.  That made buying them a gift much easier.  And it is great that the gift is sent directly to them.

When I said I do (36+ years ago), I was young and naive and didn't even know about registries. All the gifts that we received were greatly appreciated ~ we didn't have anything and needed everything.  Life was simpler then.

Did you have a wedding registry? ♥

  1. Hello, Dear Gina, I am catching up with your last few posts....Isn't it wonderful how young people can now get on an on-line registry so loved ones can get them a gift that they need and want? I remember the old-time registries were mostly for dishes and serving pieces. The bride could register at the local department store for a certain china 'pattern' that givers could add to. I have some pressed glass serving pieces that my Mother registered for when she was a bride. I never had a registry, though. My parents were against my marrying my Ramblin' Man and so I had a very small church service that I planned myself, and a prayer breakfast following that for my 'reception'. They didn't think the marriage would last.....here it is 45 years later! I'm sure they meant well, but it was nice to prove them wrong :) My parents grew to love him, though <3

  2. We were married 45 years ago next month and we did not have a gift registry. Did they even exist that long ago? I do have to say though, that with people so scattered in this modern world that having a registry does make it easy peasy for the buyer of the gift. :-)

    1. Dianna, I agree. I am happy to know what the couple wants or needs and love that it ships directly to them.

  3. We have been married 33 years and our small town had a pharmacy type store that one side was nice dishes and such and I had that, I only was giving two place settings from it, so I never had a full set. I do think the registry's are nice now, they seldom get double items
