The Rise of the Machines

The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves. I wish I could believe that.
Terminator 3,
The Rise of the Machines

And so the work begins. The dirt diggers and the brick layers have arrived with their machines to start our brick patio.  There are numerous large trucks lining the street ~ one even has a port~a~potty on it.  It looks like they are leaving it on the truck bed to use.  At least they won't be knocking on my door to use the facilities.

It looks like there are about 6 to 8 men working.  They are definitely hard workers.  I keep telling my husband that they should all be wearing those little painter mask things.  So much dust and dirt and cement flying around.  They keep breathing it all in.  Oh dear.

My husband took some before pictures and I will post them with the after ones when the project is complete.  Our property is quite big.  Originally there was just a fairly small cement slab there.  Nothing fancy at all.  The men have pulled that all up and started digging and leveling the ground.  I am pretty sure the new patio will be 20 feet by 36 feet.  There will be a fire pit area, a dining area, and a barbecue with counters etc area.

Weather permitting, the work will be completed by the end of the week.  Hooray!

  5. Your new patio sounds as if it will be a lovely place to spend summer evening hours...or morning breakfast hours ...or special lunch times...or an afternoon nap time. Just any old time of the day or evening. :)

How is your arm progressing, Gina? I've been praying for you. We had a funeral to attend on Sunday and were gone all day and then yesterday I spent just resting and doing laundry.
