Welcome Spring

I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden. ~Ruth Stout

Happy 1st day of Spring!

Here in North Carolina, the sun gave spring a warm welcome!  It was a gorgeous day.  The temperatures were in the high 50's.  Simply beautiful!

Little Bear and I took a walkabout in the garden to see what we could see.  The strawberry plants are in fine form ~ healthy leaves and runners reaching for the warm soil.  No blooms yet though.

The lush blackberry bushes are growing tall and handsome.  We need to retie them higher onto the trellis.

The blueberry bushes are slow in wakening.  Little Bear and I did our best to cheer them on.  Wake up! Wake up!  Spring has arrived!

Is your garden rejoicing this first day of Spring?

  1. It was in the 50's here today, but not quite warm enough to be out working in the ground yet. I did take time out this morning to walk around in the backyard and see how things are going in my flower gardens. Loved the sweet signs of spring I saw. :)

  3. You and Little Bear must so enjoy your walks to discover all the new growth that Springtime is sharing with you, dear Gina.

    1. We do, Kitty. Except when a strange dog barks at us. Little Bear doesn't care for that at all.

  4. Spring arrived in Texas with a very hot day, 92 degrees. However, will take it over a cold one anytime.

  5. Hi Gina!

Your garden looks beautiful! Even though we are in the mid 60's here, I am still yet to see much green, other than grass. I love spring as well, and look forward seeing more of your garden!!

    1. Connie, the weather is very similar here. I ordered my strawberries from Burpee last year. I am very pleased with them. I hope you have better luck this year with your garden.
