A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

On Saturday, my husband and I drove into Downtown Asheville.  I was eager to visit my dream store ~ April Cornell.  There are only four April Cornell stores in the United States: Asheville NC, Ocean Grove NJ, Burlington NH, and Conway NH.  Years ago, I briefly visited the one in Ocean Grove.  Briefly, I say, because I had four children with me and they weren't as enthusiastic about April Cornell as I was/am.

I spent forty glorious minutes in April Cornell on Saturday morning.  The store was simply lovely.  There were so many beautiful dresses, blouses, pants, pajamas, and robes,   There were pillows and quilts.  There was a gorgeous table with dishes and place settings, tablecloths, and more.  Luxurious velvet drapes enclosed the dressing rooms.  Velvet also adorned the settee and chairs near the dressing room.

I have been drooling over a number of different dresses that I have seen in the catalog and online.  I gathered armfuls of them and tried them on in the dressing room.  The sizes run differently with the different styles and I wanted to know what to exactly order when they went on sale later in the season.  April Cornell's prices are quite pricey so I do my best to buy what I need when the prices are discounted.

I did buy this Novelist Cover Up even though it was not on sale. I had forgotten to bring a sweater with me and I really needed something to wear in the chilly evenings in the mountains.  I absolutely love the colors and the style.  It is very me! ♥

Visiting the April Cornell store was definitely the highlight of my visit to Downtown Asheville.

  1. I had never heard of April Cornell until you introduced me to her Gina. I have seen a few of her linens at TJ Maxx and it always makes me think of you. She makes beautiful things.

    1. Arlene, Her clothing line is my favorite. I wish they sold them in other stores. I've only found them online (or in her stores).

  3. How wonderful for you, dear Gina, to have a dream fulfilled!! My late beloved and I went to Asheville a year before he passed away. I don't remember seeing April Cornell. I hope you will be able to order some things when they go on sale.

    1. Kitty, what a sweet memory! I don't know how long the store has been in Asheville. It is on one of the main streets there. Usually there is a big sale as the season ends or occasionally she will have specific styles 30% off for a period of time. I keep my eyes open! xo

  4. Hi Gina, I am catching up with some of your posts that I missed! So fun to get to go to an actual April Cornell store. I just signed up for email notices and a catalog. I just love that brand and I love the pretty topper that you bought, too. I've never been to Asheville, but if I ever get to that part of the country, I would most definitely want to visit! xx Karen

We all have our “good old days” tucked away inside our hearts, and we return to them in dreams like cats to favorite armchairs. ~ B. Carter
