Beauty in Ordinary October Days

After going all out for Halloween on the outside of the cottage, I decided to just add little Halloween touches here and there inside. I believe in beauty in ordinary days even when those days happen to be holidays.

My tea cart is topped with bunches of sunflowers and my pretty chalkboard.  Add some autumn leaves and Halloween block heads.

On one of the adjoining walls in the dining room is this sweet country shelf.  Candlesticks, a ceramic pumpkin, a cabbage teapot, stacked harvest tins, and a small mouse skeleton sit atop the shelf. Hanging from the shelf pegs is this sweet cat garland.

I love this Halloween cat garland and I made it myself! I thought about hanging it across the front window as there are cats on both sides but I decided to drape it across the country shelf instead. Not too scary!

Tomorrow, I will share more Halloween touches inside my home.

  1. The cat garland is adorable! I should try to make one...with leaves or puppy dogs! I have a good place for a garland but I forget to hang one up there! Thanks for the reminder. Enjoy your evening...give Lilah Rose a snuggle for me! Hugs, Diane

    1. Diane, leaves or puppies would be perfect for a garland. I'd like to make an autumn one too.

Your Halloween decorating is too sweet; definitely not scary! I don't care for the creepy kind, myself. :)

    1. Billie Jo, I think you'll like the fluffy LED garland that I posted today. You have a similar one on your fireplace mantle.

    1. Connie, I love my cat punch. It made making the garland much easier than doing all that fussy cutting.

  7. Hi Gina!

Loved the photo of little, Lilah Rose on your lap, what a sweet little pup! I think it is important to get them used to people and noises, makes for a less anxious little one.

Your Halloween accents in your home are so cute, I love the chalkboard! The shelf is so cute as well, and I adore the cat garland, very cute! Looking forward to see tomorrows post!

    1. Barb, I was happy to discover that she doesn't seem to be afraid of thunder. We had a big storm yesterday and though she perked up when the thunder rolled, she didn't hide. Glad you like the decor!

    1. Thanks, Dianna. I like the variety of cats. They don't look too scary that way.
