Meet Miss Lilah Rose

If you listen carefully, you will hear the pitter patter of little feet once again at our home in the woods.  My husband and I have been praying for guidance on whether or not to get another dog. Our Little Bear passed away a few months ago and our hearts and home have been too empty and quiet.

It was very important to us to rescue a puppy from the shelter rather than buying one either from a backyard or professional breeder.  On Thursday, we visited the shelter and discovered the sweetest little puppy, adopted her, and brought her home.

I'd like to introduce you to Miss Lilah Rose.

She is 13 weeks old and just a tiny girl weighing 7.5 lbs.  The shelter doesn't know her exact lineage. I am guessing part chihuahua and Italian greyhound.  She is skinny and all legs.  She has the best temperament for our family ~ quiet, gentle, and sweet.  I've only heard her bark once.

I am crate training her and am so pleased that she feels comfortable to chill and take naps in her crate (with the crate door open).  Yesterday morning, we asked her to go into her crate which she did, gave her a few treats, and closed the door.  She remained there for a little over 2 hours while we went to church.  When we arrived home, she was not whining or crying or barking.  She'd was sitting up on her bed waiting for us.  Hallelujah!!

Because she is so small, it is not ideal to take her outside each time to do her business so we decided to use pee pee pads in the  house. She caught on almost right away with a few accidents the first couple of days.  No accidents today at all and I think the worst is behind us.

She loves to be held almost as much as she loves to sleep in bed with us.  Such a little love bug! ♥

  1. She is cute. We have had dogs over the years, but do not want anymore. Too much pain when you lose them.

    1. Marilyn, I am so amazed that she is such a good little puppy. She did whine a tiny bit this week in her crate but I stayed strong and did not immediately let her out. She settled down and then I let her out. She is truly a blessing!
