Why Lilah Rose?

One of our very favorite family movies of all time is The Music Man. Robert Preston was perfect as Harold Hill and Shirley Jones as Marian the Librarian.  We watched the Music Man every 4th of July for many many years.

It is so hard to chose a favorite song from this musical.  They are all wonderful.  My husband is partial to Lida Rose sung by the barbershop quartet, the Buffalo Bills.  I've included the music/scene from the film below.

We went back and forth over a name for the new puppy.  Lida Rose came to mind.  The name is uncommon and I think the vet etc would mispronounce it (lid-a vs lye-da).  Silly I know but I also liked the name Lilah better.  So Lilah it is.  And yes, we sing Lilah Rose instead of Lida Rose.♥

  1. Hi Gina!

I love the name! I love, The Music Mad, I think I should watch it this week-end! I have a friend whose name is, LuRose, it always reminds me of, Lida Rose. Lilah, is as adorable as her name.

    Hugs and Love,

  2. Believe it or not, I have a friend named Lida. I think it is such a pretty name. But I understand that people will hear LILA. Our cocker, Taffy, was always called Happy. ( that Southern accent plays havoc with some names.)

    1. Arlene, Did the teachers pronounce her name correctly? Teachers always got my full first name wrong. Strange people called Taffy Happy. They don't sound the same to me. xx
