The Calm Before the Storm

It is a quiet Sunday evening.  It is the calm before the storm.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is a wonderful time filled with family, friends, food, and faith. There is much work to be done starting tomorrow.

Monday ~ House Cleaning & List Making

Tuesday ~ Shopping & Laundry

Wednesday ~ Baking, Baking, & More Baking

Thursday ~ Roasting, Cooking, and Celebrating

Friday ~ Black Friday Shopping

Saturday ~ Sleeping In!

I love this cozy Brambly Hedge illustration by Jill Barklem. Wouldn't you just love to sit in a chair by the fire and visit with these two?  I would!

  1. Hi Gina!

Yes, I would love to sit in a chair by the fire with those adorable little mice...have I told you that I love mice!! And I love all the Brambly Hedge illustrations, they just make me grin when I see them.

I love, Thanksgiving, it is also my favorite holiday. I love Christmas too, I love what we are celebrating at Christmas time, but it is a stressful time for me as well, I don't like that. I don't have very good childhood memories about Christmas, but, Thanksgiving was altogether different for me, it was magical!

Your list looks a lot like mine - but they are all things I love!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, be safe and please eat too much!!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Barb, Thanksgiving is a bit stressful just at crunch time when I'm trying to time the potatoes, gravy, turkey, stuffing, & rolls to come out at the same time. But once we are sitting down at the table, I can take a deep breath and stuff my face! :-)

    1. Arlene, will this be your first Thanksgiving at Grimmwood? I won't be taking a blogging break at least until after the new year. I'm on a roll and I'm afraid if I stop, I'll stop!

  4. You are all organized, Gina! I love that Brambly Hedge scene, too! I guess I'm just drawn to old-fashioned charm.
I also ready your post on cleaning. I haven't tried the Swifter or the Roomba, but I'm glad that you endorse them!
Happy Thanksgiving week to you, sweet friend! xx

    1. Connie, I'll have lots of help so not too much overdoing it unless it's the eating or shopping!

We all have our “good old days” tucked away inside our hearts, and we return to them in dreams like cats to favorite armchairs. ~ B. Carter
