Whispers of Nature

There are no sounds that can stir the sublime emotions... like the sighs and whispers of nature.
James Lendall Basford

I have been spending a lot of time outside with the puppies encouraging Winston to do his business not in the house but in the backyard. Lilah doesn't need any instruction but she accompanies us regardless.

Early morning is my favorite time. The world is slowly quietly waking up. The owls hoot it's time for bed while the early birds cheerily sing good morning! I can hear the rustling of the grass as the puppies run and play.

Once inside, it's time for breakfast. Winston eats his kibble much faster than Lilah does and I must keep him entertained while she finishes eating or he will help her finish.

After breakfast, we sit on the back porch enjoying the quiet, the cool morning air, and have our devotions. Well, I have my devotions. The puppies sit and watch the birds and squirrels. A morning sublime!

  2. Hi Gina, early mornings are cherished around here at the farm, we have our devotions on the porch too! I also enjoy sitting on the porch at the close of day with a beverage before bedtime. Enjoyed this post.

  3. Hi Gina! So happy to see you back blogging again, I've missed you! How fun that you have two puppies now, so much energy they have! Sure keeps one busy! Being outside early in the morning, or late in the evening is my favorite time of day... simple serene moments of joy! And while I don't sit on my porch, I retreat to my garden in the heat of the summer days here to listen to the beautiful noises of nature busy about its business. So happy to visit with you today, blessings and hugs!

  4. It's so nice to get a 'gentle' start to the day. Most of the time I'm rushing around to run errands, etc. We have to get out before it gets too hot! Enjoy your afternoon! Hugs!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
