Sweet Lullaby

These past two days have shown me that indeed autumn is on its way.  The temperatures have been in the low 80's with less humidity.  We have spent as much time outside or on the back porch as we can.  I even fell asleep on the porch sofa with Lilah Rose at my feet.  The tree frogs and the birds sing such a sweet lullaby.

I confess that my cottage is still a bit of a mess.  I have put some more things away but I'd much rather be outside.  The mess can wait.

I am working on something special for my blog and hope to show it to you next week. ♥

Are you enjoying this fine late summer weather?

  1. Hi Gina!

Fall is indeed, just around the corner. It's so smoky here that I can't spend any time outside. The most I do is run out and water my flowers and then run back in. I love that you fell asleep on your porch... :0)

Your bookcase is beautiful, and I'm sure you will fill it up quickly!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Barb, I hope the smoke clears up soon. And I hope it rains to clear the air and water your plants. xx

  2. Autumn is here also, and the leaves are falling. I've spent some time in the garden this afternoon just cutting back and weeding.

    1. Elizabeth, very few leaves have fallen here. The trees must be glorious there in all their autumn colors.

  3. It is still rather hot here, but I won't feel the autumn for quite some time. I can tell things are changing with the light and there is a warm breeze blowing.

    1. Sandy, it was cooler but now it is hot again. I'm hoping that those autumn breezes flow through soon.

  4. There is hope for Autumn...yay!
So many states have had excessive heat, smoke, etc. that it's felt as though Autumn would never get here. I'm so happy for you that things are cooling off there, and that you can feel that Autumn is on it's way.
Looking forward to seeing your new project.

    Have a happy day.

    1. Kerin, it seems as soon as I wrote that it cooled off that it became hot again. Oh bother. I will have to just trust that autumn is around the corner! Hoping my new project is ready mid-week. :-)

    1. Jan, those are mine as well. Winter is actually quite mild here in NC. We rarely have snow or ice.

  6. We still have temperatures in the high 90's, Gina, so no Fall around the corner, here. I'm glad that you're spending as much time outside as you can. I try to get out in the early evening and enjoy some time on my patio.

I love the early and late hours of summer too, Kitty. xo

  8. I am loving the cooler temps and the lower humidity!! I am trying to catch up on some crafting. Gina, you had asked if I had considered selling some of my stitching. Most of mine is for the family and myself. I have done some pieces on commission before but you can never really make any money because the work is so time intensive. Right now I am rushing to get a Christmas ornament done so I can give it to my sis in law when we meet for a reunion in September.

    1. Arlene, I can imagine that it takes countless hours to finish stitching a project. They are beautiful though.

  9. so nice you have been enjoying the weather, our last 4 days have been heat index in the 100's so we haven't enjoyed nice weather yet, but suppose to be in the 80's tomorrow, hopefully less humidity too. I agree when the weather is nice you just have to be outside

    1. Connie, it has been so hot today that we were only out for ten minutes or so. Even the back porch is uncomfortable. Thankfully, the weather is due to cool off this weekend.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
