Rain, Rain, Go Away

I love this picture that I found on Pixabay. The beautiful imagery is all distorted. It almost looks waterlogged. The clock and lamppost twisted from the winds and rain.

Hold onto that umbrella.  The rain isn't going to stop anytime soon.  I can't complain though.  We still have power and haven't had to be evacuated.  The rivers continue to overflow and though we have flash flood warnings, so far we have not had that problem.

One of the little apple trees that my mister planted a few years ago had to be steadied and restaked again.  The wind almost pushed it over.

The roads are a mess and we have been told to not use them unless we absolutely need to.  We will continue to hunker down here at home.

Praying for all those affected by Hurricane Florence.

    1. Me too, Sandy! There are some trees down in the neighborhood but I think we fared better than many people.

    1. Thank you, Barb. My heart breaks seeing those beach communities devastated by the hurricane. Praying and hoping to help in some way.

  3. A friend of mine in Hickory NC reported much the same account. They are staying in and staying safe I hope. We have friends who live at Emerald Isle which was near the brunt of the storm We still have not heard if they hound their house intact. They were allowed to go back to assess damage yesterday. A sad day for all of North Carolina.

    1. I think Hickory is SW of me, Arlene. I'm glad your friend is ok. I this Emerald Isle has troubles - not sure if they have power or not. Hopefully, everyone will be able to rebuild etc.

We are wishing for your rain... we've had new fires this past weekend and they are ripping through forests so quickly.

    Stay safe.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
