Thank You for Praying - Lilah Rose

Dearest ladies,

Thank you so much for praying for Lilah Rose.  She is doing better today. She is taking anti-nausea medicine, antibiotics, and steroids for the next 10 days or so.

The veterinarian wasn't sure what happened with her.  She did blood work, gave her subcutaneous fluid (like an IV but it is under her skin rather in her vein), gave her anti-nausea shot, and a strong steroid shot. Poor baby.  She had a fever of 104 which went down after the subcu fluid.  As I mentioned, she is on all the above meds plus a very small but frequent diet as she is able to tolerate it.

Prayer Request

These last few weeks have been challenging.  Aside from still being sick, now there is something wrong with Lilah Rose.  Last night, her little face started swelling up.  Not her muzzle but her cheeks and around her eyes.  We gave her a Benadryl in hopes that this would counteract whatever was bothering her.  Our last dog, Little Bear, had skin allergies and the vet would advise us to give her one of the 25mg Benadryl tablets daily (up to 3x a day) as needed.

Wishing on the Wish Book

Today, sadly, Sears filed for bankruptcy.  It is the end of an era.

Growing up in a small town in Northern California, we didn't have a Sears "store".  We did have a little Sears where you could pick up Sears packages that you ordered through the catalog. You could also return packages there too.

I seem to remember that you needed to order through the mail (sending a check for payment).  I don't think you could order items over the phone.  Does anyone remember?

I have very fond memories of the yearly Christmas Wish Book.  We would take turns looking at this catalog and make a Wish List to send to Santa.  As I grew older, my list changed from toys to clothes.

Do you remember the Sears Christmas Wish Book?

Will you miss shopping at Sears?

Sunday Morning Greeting

Good morning (or should I say afternoon)!  It is raining again here in North Carolina.  I hope the river doesn't rise too much more. Thankfully, we live in a very rural area. The photograph that I posted yesterday of the overflowing river hasn't done any damage to homes that I know of.

How is your weather this Sunday morning/afternoon?

Down To the River To Pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way!

O sisters let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O sisters let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe & crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O brothers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Come on brothers, let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O fathers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O fathers let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe and crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O mothers let's go down
Come on down, don't you wanna go down?
Come on mothers, let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O sinners, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O sinners, let's go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe and crown?
Good Lord show me the way

Alison Krauss

This is an aerial shot of the overflowing river near where we live.  (We are about a mile from the river.). This photograph was taken yesterday.  I'm not sure who's drone took the picture.

We were out and about for a little while this morning and it is so sad the number of trees down, parts of roofs that have blown off, and all the flooding.

I love Alison Krauss's song (lyrics above) and will post a YouTube link to the song if anyone isn't familiar with it.

Big Ships and Small Ships

There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship. ~Author Unknown

Yesterday, I received two beautiful cards from friends, one near and one far.

I absolutely love this by the sea card sent to me all the way from Cornwall, UK from my friend Barbara!
I just want to step into the scene and walk along the shore.  Perhaps visit a few of the shops pictured.  So beautiful! Thank you, Barbara.

I also received a card from my friend Ruleen. I do so love all things Willow Tree. My husband has bought me various Willow Tree figurines for birthdays and such. There is something just so simple yet beautiful about them. Thank you, Ruleen.

What a delight to receive not one but two cards from friends. I enjoy sending cards and receiving them too! If you'd like to join in on exchanging cards, you can message me via the Contact Me widget at the top of the blog or email me at bylanternlight@yahoo.com.

The Nicest and The Best

A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. ~Douglas Pagels

I was so blessed to meet with a new friend at a local coffeeshop/bakery. Though I've only spoken with Angela a few times, I do think that she is a kindred spirit.

The little local coffeeshop/bakery is fairly new.  The decor is really sweet.  Or should I say YUMMY?  Angela and I sat at this table.

I really like this "lamp" made of a metal cheese grater and colander.  Pull the metal cord and it does light up.  The light shows through the star patterns in the colander.

Next time I go, I'll take more pictures. Such simple and sweet surroundings.  I wonder where the owner bought these or if someone she knows made them?  I may work up the courage to ask.

I am looking forward to the Ladies Bible Study this morning.  Apart from coffee with Angela and the grocery store, the only place I have been this week is the veterinarian's office.  Lilah Rose has not been feeling well since we arrived home from South Carolina.  I think she is finally feeling better.  I'm hoping so anyway.

I have been remiss at visiting and my plan is to do so this afternoon. Until then!
