A Wintry Awakening

This morning, I've been blessed with a wintry awakening,  The snow continues to fall,  And though the temperatures are cold outside, I have a warm cozy feeling inside.  Remember.  Remember God's promises.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

All the changes taking place have a purpose.  When my eyes are on the Lord, I look forward to the new adventures that await us.

Though I do love living in North Carolina, I have missed some aspects of living in the Northeast.

*The changes in the seasons are more distinct.  My husband especially has missed all the snow.  I have missed bundling up in sweaters and a coat.

*The Northeast has so much history.  I love looking at the old Revolutionary War era buildings.  I love visiting the places where Washington and others traveled.

*I love old houses.  Our house in Northern NJ was about 80 years old.  The houses we will most likely look to buy are older than that.

*We will be closer to 3/4 of the children and 1/2 the grandchildren.  Grandchildren keep you on your toes and I am looking forward to all the time spent with them (baseball games, school pageants, and more)

*I have missed the pizza.  The pizza is not the same here.  And bagels.  I don't think there is a bagel shop anywhere near here.

And now for some updates...

I have a number of prospective new homes for Lilah Rose.  One woman is coming next week to meet her and then we will visit her home.  She does have a cat that loves dogs.  Lilah Rose hasn't been around cats so not sure how that will go.  Please continue to pray that she adjusts to a new home.

We have been working with a realtor in New Jersey.  My daughter has been meeting with her and checking out houses with her as well.  There is one that we may fly up to see.

We are starting to sift through all our stuff and decide what will be donated, sold, or kept.  I am hoping this won't be too overwhelming as we just did this four years ago.  I don't think we've bought that much stuff since we moved.

My husband has another oncologist appointment scheduled for tomorrow but I doubt that will happen.  So much snow and no plows.  The doctor's office will most likely postpone the appointment.

My cough and breathing are much better.  The steroids really kicked in and though I am tired, I am better than I was.

I've still not been able to visit and comment and I hope to soon.  Much love. xo

  2. I missed your earlier post about your sudden illness, and hope and pray that you are continuing to feel better.
It must be hard to think about moving as you havent been there that long, but I'm sure that God will guide your steps. You are in my prayers.

  3. We have seen our family's post from Brevard and they were having a ball sledding down the big hill their house sits on. They have purchased some winter clothing for those activities as they have a good bit of snow there in the winter. You are in my prayers Gina.

  5. I am so glad to hear these things, including that you are feeling better! God be with you, your beloved Husband and your L.R. ...... God has this all in His hands and no where better place.... pizza and bagels, yes, NJ is known for those! I live in Northern NJ now after 15 years in Canada; there is much I like here; I think one always misses what one does not have after having it but it does sound that there will be a lot of good in this move; I love snow and seasons too. Take good care. May God's love pour out on you and your Husband! And L.R. too! God surely loves all of his creatures!

So, so many changes....may the Lord wrap his arms around both you and your husband with His reassuring love and comfort at this time♥

    1. Thank you, Kitty. We definitely feel all the prayers and are feeling a little less overwhelmed. We are trying to put it all on the back burner until after the 1st of the year. xo

  9. I am happy to read that you are feeling better. You will need your strength for your upcoming move. I pray everything goes well for you. Hopefully the snow won't hang around too long. We don't get very much snow here in NM. We do however get lots of wind which isn't that much fun either. All the best to you,
    xx Beca

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
