Fine Dining Coming to a Dog Bowl Near You

Say Whaaat?!

I'm sorry, Mister Prairie Dog, not a prairie dog bowl...

Fine Dining for Lilah Rose's dog bowl!

Because we are going to be traveling North in February for a few days, I am looking for an alternative to homemade dog food for Lilah. She will be boarding at a new kennel and I want to find something delicious that she will eat that will be easy on her sensitive tummy.

While we were at Costco this weekend, I noticed that they carry the Fresh Pet dog food. I decided to purchase a one 6-lb bag. It is the closest to homemade dog food that I've seen. I wasn't sure if Lilah would like it or not but she does. I have been mixing it with her homemade food and will be gradually increasing the Fresh Pet food until that is all she's offered to eat.  So far so good!

When I first opened the bag, I was surprised at how good it smells.  This particular bag is made up of chicken, cranberries, and spinach.  I like that it is grain free.  It also contains eggs etc like she usually eats.

What appears to be kibble in the bag is actually really soft - not hard like regular kibble.  Lilah wolfed it down without blinking twice.

I think this Fresh Pet fine dining option will work well for us (and her) while we are traveling.

Has anyone tried this Fresh Pet dog food before?
If so, how did your dog fair while eating it?

  1. Sorry I do not have a dog, or a pet, so I can't help you.
However, looking at the packet it does sound good, and good that it is grain free too :)

    All the best Jan

  2. I'm glad that you found a solution for Lilah Rose! That must make you feel much better to know that she'll eat it while traveling.

  3. Hope all goes well at the kennel while you are traveling. I know it weighs on your mind when you leave Lilah Rose. I always hated taking Taffy to the Kennel when we had her....it was like leaving her at school on the first day.lol

  5. Oh that is great you found something that she likes, I hope it continues to fair well with her stomach, it will set your mind at ease while you are gone. I have never tried that stuff, don't know if they had that when Peanut was still with us or not

    1. Connie, I don't know when Fresh Pet started. It is a little pricey but I'll reserve it for when we go away.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
