Half a Lunch - Twice as Good

Today, my husband and I went out to lunch.  We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant (one county away).

I ordered a cheese enchilada, a tamale, and refried beans.  After looking on my Weight Watcher app at how many points this meal was... I decided to eat just half.

As soon as my lunch was served,  I portioned everything in half.  It was a little sad to eat just half of it but I brought the rest home with me.  I will offer the leftovers to my husband.

Everything was delicious!  But half my lunch was 11 points!!  I did factor in the few tortilla chips that I ate.  11 points is a lot when you are allowed 23 for the day.  Thankfully, I had a few points left over from Thursday and Friday.

For dinner, I filled my tummy with zero point foods - apple, banana, and a hard boiled egg.  And then there is coffee.  Coffee is 3 points.  It is really zero points but I add a little milk and sugar and that is where the points hide.

I'm a girl with her priorities straight!  I have 3 cups of coffee a day = 9 points of my 23 allotted daily points.  Because let's face it, without coffee where would I get the energy to even count points?

*In regards to yesterday's post about the rude comment, I have heard from the commenter and she apologized and said she didn't write what she meant well.  I shall take her word for it, accept her apology, and move on.  All is well. xo

  1. So glad for resolution! Wow, I think that is really disciplined of you! I had to change my eating habits after gaining weight a few years ago (I am not trying to lose as much as stay where I am) and it was hard at times... but now I don't do milkshakes at the diner (actually I have to be careful with rich foods, I have a newly discovered milk intolerance but thankfully the generic milk pills/lactaid helps me still be able to enjoy it!) ... and I don't have a full thing of (delicious) fries... instead I steal a few of my Husband's :) ... Wishing you a good and peaceful Sunday! God bless!

  3. Definitely coffee is needed to add up all those points. You do make me smile, Gina. I love the idea of perhaps not using up all your food points in a day and then adding them to another day's total. Your lunch out with your husband does sound fun and the food looks delicious. How fun to go drive to another country for lunch♥

    1. Kim, I'm afraid not so exciting - a different county not a different country. My that would be fun though! Though a long drive! xo

  4. I'm glad things have been resolved. It is sometimes easy to say the wrong thing without thinking it through.

  5. Oh my, I do love Mexican food! Tortilla chips are so hard to resist, too. You did good in only eating half of your lunch. I do that quite often myself, Gina.

    1. Kitty, I'm afraid that I lost count on how many tortilla chips I ate but definitely less than I normally would. xo

  6. Good for you with the dinner, Mexican is one of my favorite meals out and I don't go often so when we do that is my splurge day where the diet goes out the window and I just eat whatever I want, so I give you a lot of credit for being able to only eat half :) I am lucky I don't like coffee, I drink one glass of black ice tea a day and the rest is water, I am lucky I like water too :)
Hope your week is off to a great start!

    1. Thanks, Connie! I like water too. Sometimes when it's a really hot day, water tastes the best! I wish I'd eaten all my Mexican food now - knowing I lost my weekly food points!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
