The Long Night

Thank you to everyone who prayed and commented in yesterday's post.  The saga indeed continues...

I slept very little last night and when I did sleep, I had bad nightmares.  I had kept in touch with the rescue and Lilah Rose was not doing well there.  I exchanged emails this morning and not much had improved.

I spent all morning praying and crying and asking God for His mercy and grace.

My husband decided, for my sake and Lilah's, that we needed to go back to the rescue and bring Lilah Rose home.  He called the rescue and they said they understood.  Evidently we had 48 hours to change our minds (we didn't know this).

My husband insisted I stay home while he drove an hour plus to the rescue and "rescue" Lilah.  He then drove an hour plus home to bring her "home".

Needless to say, all our hearts felt they could beat again once all were home where we belong.

We are all exhausted and look forward to a restful night sleep.

    1. Jeanie, we most certainly were. It was a lesson learned for sure. She will remain with us wherever we go.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
