Trying to Make Less Points!

Weight Watcher Food Points!

Today is Day 3 on my Healthier Me Plan.  (I just made that diet title up but I like it!)

I am doing well so far.  I am eating more foods in the zero point category.  I am a little OCD about these things.

With a daily limit of 23 food points, you learn to eat smart.  If you don't use all your food points, you can carry them over to the next day. Plus you are allowed a weekly extra 28 points.  And you can earn more points by exercising.

The last few days, my food total has been 19 to 21 food points.

Breakfast is generally 6 points - 1 piece of cinnamon raisin toast (no butter)(4 points), a hard boiled egg, (0 points) and a cup of coffee with a little milk and sugar (2 points).

Lunch for the last two days has been a bowl of black eyed peas with ham. This lunch is only 1 food point (for the ham). All the vegetables and legumes are zero points.

Snacks have been an apple or banana (0 points), a piece of mozzarella string cheese (3 points),  1/4 cup of low fat cottage cheese (2 points) and coffee (2 points).

Dinner has been either salmon and asparagus (both 0 points) or bbq chicken (5 points) and coffee (2 points).

I haven't been hungry at all.  WW suggests that you weigh yourself once a week.  I won't know until Tuesday if I've last any weight.  I do feel healthier though and that is a very good thing!

Have you changed any eating habits this new year?

  2. I think I will have to change my eating habits this year. Ahh....Christmas....it never does wonders to the figure. Your eating plan is an interesting one. It sounds as if you are eating a variety of foods which are delicious. Good on you for making a change, Gina.

    1. Thank you, Kim. I'm not sure about variety in my diet. I am tired of black eyed peas after having them for 4 days in a row. I think I'll cook a different legume next week. They do have so much iron and protein and with zero points it's a Win Win.

  3. I weigh every day but my weight doesn't vary much at all...and that's good. I eat healthy but I'm always on the look out for healthy snacks...I love to snack. I'll be interested in what you share for snacks! I like cottage cheese and yogurt and cheese sticks. Hugs!

  4. We still have some goodies left around the house so I have not started a full on diet yet, but after Sunday I am thinking I will have everything gone. Good for you to get on a healthy diet, that will be best for all you will have ahead of you. I have not tried Weight Watchers before, interesting to see the point values.

    1. Connie, WW has changed in the last year or so. There weren't as many zero points. And the left over points of the day did not carry over to the next day. Now they do. Bwahahaha. (I still have a little leftover Sees chocolate too)

  5. Good for you, dear Gina. I have slowly changed my eating habits due to not feeling well after eating. A lot of times I get terrible stomach aches after a meal and oh, I feel simply miserable for hours. I have finally been able to find something that works for me and I feel so much better. Wishing you all the best. And may I say that you look beautiful just as you are. Happy New Year! Hugs

    1. Thank you, Stephanie. I am glad you found something that helps your tummy after eating. I have heard good things about probiotics. My tummy definitely is adjusting to this new eating plan.

    1. Regina, that is such a smart goal to add more fruits and vegetables and drink more water. I am doing that too (all of those have zero points!!!). It is hard to remember to drink more water but I'm trying.

  7. Hi Gina, I pretty much do the same plan that I've done for the past 19 years or so, and that is The Zone diet. I watch my carbs and protein and try to keep those in track. I think you look prefect just the way you are.

  8. It's good to know that black eyed peas are zero points!! I made a black eyed pea soup and still have some. I may need to freeze the leftovers, because I'm a little tired of it.

    1. Kitty, I grew tired of them too after 4 days in a row - or was it 5 days. I've blocked it out! ♥

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
